Alexander Rich successfully contested a will that a decedent’s son sought to probate that would have left the firm’s client with no inheritance. The contested will was drafted by a legal document assistant, rather than an attorney, and the son played an active role in scheduling visits with the legal document assistant in order to procure the will.

It was signed by the decedent a year before she was conserved by the Mendocino County Public Guardian’s office. The case was brought before Mendocino County Superior Court Judge Jeanine B. Nadel, who ruled in favor of the firm’s client. As a result of the court’s ruling, the estate will pass intestate, with the firm’s client receiving half of the estate, instead of none of it.
