Alexander Rich successfully petitioned to remove a trustee who had failed to distribute a portion of the trust estate to the firm’s client. The trustee was a half-brother of the firm’s client, whose parents died in 2016. When repeated requests for her share of the trust estate fell on deaf ears, Mr. Rich filed a petition for an accounting and compelling the trustee to distribute funds to the firm’s client. When that order was disregarded, a further petition was filed, seeking the trustee’s removal with appointment of the firm’s client as the new trustee. Mendocino County Superior Court Judge Jeanine B. Nadel granted both petitions and awarded the firm’s client her attorney fees incurred in seeking the removal of the trustee. Once she became trustee, the firm’s client immediately obtained her inheritance.
